“The Blindness that Follows me Around” is inspired by Auguste Rodin’s sculpture, “Eve”, previously on display in the Corcoran Collection at the National Gallery of Art. Both evoke a sense of vulnerability and the feeling of being overwhelmed. Reminiscent of the artist’s progressively diminishing eyesight which began in early childhood, the painting contrasts overstimulation with negative space.
This oil painting on sturdy canvas paper was created by overlapping images from the sculpture. Original (12 W x 18 H in) is available. Prints of different sizes are also available in excellent quality that accurately reflects the texture and vibrancy of the original colors.
